About the ICSVPAC

The Idaho Central Spokane Valley Performing Arts Center (ICSVPAC) publicly announced plans to build a multi-million state-of-the-art performing arts center. The 59,000 square foot facility will house a 480+ seat Main Stage Theatre, a 200-seat flexible Studio Theatre, an Acting Conservatory for area youth, as well as event/business meeting space. Groundbreaking took place August of 2022, and the Idaho Central Spokane Valley Performing Arts Center hopes to open its doors for its first theater production in 2024.

Plans for the ICSVPAC were sparked by the success of Spokane Valley Summer Theatre (SVST), which will become the resident theater company at the facility. Since its founding in 2016, SVST has produced high quality summer musical theatre, while setting new attendance records annually. Executive Artistic Director Yvonne A.K. Johnson says building the Idaho Central Spokane Valley Performing Arts Center will not only give Spokane Valley Summer Theatre a permanent home but will also be a beacon of light for the performing arts in general, as well as give the region a space that will have multiple uses. The stunning building will benefit the region not only artistically, but economically, injecting an estimated $32 dollars into the local economy per dollar spent on live theatre into the region.

FAQ About the ICSVPAC

The ICSVPAC will be just off the I-90 corridor between Evergreen and Sullivan, in the new Mirabeau neighborhood, nextdoor to the east of the Tru by Hilton. It is a centrally located 5-acre parcel, in what is soon to be a new Kendall Yards-like neighborhood, on the last piece of undeveloped riverfront property in the City of Spokane Valley. This includes 300 parking spaces which will always be free to our patrons.
ICSVPAC stands for “Idaho Central Spokane Valley Performing Arts Center”. Idaho Central Credit Union (ICCU) had the visionary foresight to invest in the project and holds the title naming rights to the building in perpetuity. The partnership demonstrates a regional collaboration and represents the large geographic patronage of both ICCU and SVPAC (ICSVPAC). This facility will truly serve the entire Inland Northwest. Other naming rights in and around the building are still available, and all are sold in perpetuity (yours forever!). If you are interested in leaving your corporate/business or family name as a legacy to the region, please contact Capital Campaign Manager, Georgia Oxford at georgia@svsummertheatre.com or #619.518.8523.
The total square footage for the building is 59,000 square feet. This includes a 480+ seat Main Stage, a 200 seat Studio Theatre (with flexible seating), and a third floor event space for upwards of 400 people. The event space has 180° sweeping views of the Idaho mountains to the southeast and Mt. Spokane and the Spokane River to the north. All spaces are programmable at the same time. In addition, the ICSVPAC will have four soundproofed practice rooms and two studios for music instruction, a caterer’s kitchen, full fly-system, hydraulic grid-system trap room beneath the main stage, spacious scenic and costume shops, rehearsal room, a large box office serving both performing spaces, three permanent and multiple portable concession/bars, green rooms and dressing rooms for both performance spaces, two “star” dressing rooms, offices, meeting room, three lobby spaces, over 4,000 sq.ft of storage and twice as many restroom stalls for women!
Spokane Valley Summer Theatre (501c3 professionally operated theatre company) will begin producing year-round offerings (including our traditional three show summers season and camps). This company will provide ample community events including 8 Main Stage and 4 Studio Theatre productions, year-round Conservatory classes and training (our theatre education wing), summer camps for grades K-12, dance and music recitals, concerts and special events. The products and services we will provide in these spaces include (but are not limited to): Theatrical productions (musicals and plays) in two theatre spaces, Conservatory training program for students, Conservatory Summer Camps, concerts and recitals, event venues for large gatherings/groups (anniversaries, birthdays, weddings, business meetings, etc.), costume rental for fully produced shows, two studio and four practice rooms for rental, and other events as appropriate to our mission.
Our mission is to enrich, entertain and serve the community in a safe, professional environment. We provide musical, theatrical, educational and cultural programming that celebrates and further develops the artistic talents of the community. ICSVPAC will serve as a regional epicenter for all things related to the professional performing arts.

The Conservatory is the educational programming component of ICSVPAC. It serves regional youth in areas of the general performing arts (workshops, classes, summer camps, family showcases/performances, etc.) The Conservatory program will benefit approximately 700+ students annually in the ICSVPAC facility. It will offer 35-50 classes and camps for after school and summer programming.

The NEA (National Endowment for the Arts) estimates that for every $1 spent on live theatre, $33 dollars are injected into the regional economy.  SVST is currently drawing patrons from Missoula to Moses Lake, Canada to northern Oregon, and beyond. SVST currently draws almost a third of its patrons from outside the cities of Spokane/Spokane Valley, and 14% from out of state. This new state-of-the-art facility will have a tremendous impact on hospitality and tourism. It is centrally located in the Inland Northwest, right in the heart of the phenomenal growth along the I-90 corridor, and easily reached by patrons coming from any direction.

SVST/ICSVPAC Building Design Committee under the direction of Executive Artistic Director, Yvonne A.K. Johnson.  They worked diligently with NAC Architects for the past three years to design this stunning, multi-functional visual and technical masterpiece.  The General Contractor is Garco Construction.

A ground-breaking ceremony occurred August 13, 2022, and construction begins in September 2022. SVST plans on assuming occupancy of the ICSVPAC in 2024, with the first professional mainstage production opening that year.

All in, the cost of construction this new facility is approximately $48 million dollars.
